Several people have asked me “Why the name CoXen? And am I saying it correctly?” First, for the pronunciation and I have to share a little story first. My first customer service job involved occasionally taking bookings over the phone. Saying “Hello, this is Danny” over and over again got just a little boring. So from time to time, I’d say my name was a character from a recent Chevy Chase movie. Mahawkma, as in “Erwin M. Fletcher…Eriwn Mahawkma Fletcher…address 7”, from Fletch Lives became one of my favorites to use.  All in good fun until a customer on the phone asks the dyslexic kid how to spell it and you have to say just a minute to ask your co-worker how to spell the fake name you just gave a customer. Thank you, Suzy, for shouting out, “just like it sounds”.

As such you pronounced CoXen “just like it is sounds” 😉 or more helpfully, Cox-en or just like the word coxswain,  the steersman of a ship, boat, lifeboat, racing boat, or other boats. Click here to listen to CoXen and coxswain said.

So, the three main reasons for choosing the name CoXen:

1) Pretty simple to start, Cox is my last name so it’s a great starting point. But the word Cox in a google search brings back 300,000,000+ results and the words Cox Consulting bring back 20,000,000+ results.  I’m pretty awesome, but I might get lost in that sea.  The word Coxen, on the other hand, brings about 500,000 results and Coxen Consulting only 18,000’ish.  I like those odds a little better!

2) With the word CoXen, I’m better able to emphasize the C and the X and plan to always spell it as CoXen. Helping to understand and optimize the Customer Experience, or CX, for organizations is a huge passion and important part of what we do and where we can help. The desire is for your organization to see the benefit in many areas, including a more seamless customer experience, improved employee engagement and empowerment, and improving the bottom-line.

3) The comedian Brian Regan! I think you’ll know it then you hear it but because I’m nice, it’s right at the two minute mark. Click here to enjoy!
